Greetings from The Greater Kansas City (MO) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.  As the president of this great chapter, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the website where with a click of the mouse, you will find information outlining the goals, objectives, programs, events, resources, and other community efforts that describe the incredible work of chapter members.  We invite you to use this website as a tool to locate information about our chapter.

The theme, “Linking Our Legacy Through Friendship and Service” has been chosen to honor the founding members of this prodigious organization, Sarah Strickland Scott and Margaret Roselle Hawkins, and to the organizers of The Greater Kansas City Chapter: Alma Alexander, Bessie Braithwaite, Katie Miller, Gladys Badeau, Clemetine Nixon, Beatrice Turner, Peggy Adkins, Will Florence Robbins, Audrey Kelker, Lucinda Howard and Genevieve Love. It was through their leadership along with the dynamic leaders of others to follow; and visionary members past and present; that we can boast of a national membership of 14,000 members 281 chapters located in 41 states, District of Columbus and the Common Wealth of the Bahamas.

Since 1951, the legacy of service and sisterhood continues to be a powerful presence in the Kansas City community.  This presence is strengthen through the focused energy exhibited in the five program facets: the Arts, Services to Youth, National Trends, International Trends, and Health and Human Services. Quality programming, committed members, long standing sisterhood and excellent leadership coupled with community support have been instrumental in changing the complexion of this community.

We look forward to the amazing opportunities remaining for us to impact the community through the powerful facet programs designed to serve as a voice for the voiceless and work to strengthen the power of the powerless.  With the strong support of our neighbors and friends, we will collectively be “Linked in Friendship and Connected in Service.”

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of nearly 14,000 professional women of color in 283 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
