Kelly G. Loeb Selected as Ms. JuneteenthKC 2021



The organizers of Kansas City, Missouri’s annual Juneteenth celebration chose Greater Kansas City (MO) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated member and recording secretary Kelly G. Loeb to be Ms. JuneteenthKC 2021, citing Loeb’s commitment to her community, serving older adults and advocating for kindness, grace and love throughout Kansas City. Loeb is a master-level social worker and older adult care manager at Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City. Her colleague, Sarah Chao, nominated Loeb for the honor, noting Loeb’s advocacy, Medicare expertise and passion for ensuring health equity for all. During the JuneteenthKC festivities, Loeb rode in a parade in the 18th and Vine district, appeared on two local news programs and made a rousing speech to the crowd assembled. The year 2021 marks the inaugural year of Juneteenth as a federal holiday, commemorating the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas learned of their emancipation.
